Clover Installation & Activation Guide
Use this guide to unbox, connect, activate and test your Clover device. It covers the most common setup path for Clover Station Solo, Station Duo, Mini, Flex, Compact and Kitchen Display System hardware.
Preparation
Get the location and account ready before powering on the device.
A few minutes of preparation can prevent most setup delays. Make sure the merchant account has been boarded for Clover, the device is intended for that merchant location, and the network is available.
Use a stable Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Avoid placing the device on a congested guest network if a dedicated business network is available.
Unbox the device, power supply, hub, printer, customer display and any optional accessories before beginning.
Device Matrix
Choose the setup path that matches your Clover hardware.
Clover Station Solo

General Setup
Most Clover devices follow the same basic activation sequence.
Device-specific cabling differs, but the setup flow is generally consistent: connect hardware, get online, activate the merchant, create the owner PIN, complete updates and test the device.
Unbox and inspect the hardware
Confirm that the device, power supply, printer or hub, cables and accessories match the equipment order. Do not mix parts from another merchant location unless Selective Pay has confirmed the configuration.
Connect power and required cables
Connect the power supply first. If using Ethernet, connect it before or during the initial network setup. For Station models, connect the printer/hub and customer display components according to the device instructions.
Power on and choose language
Turn on the Clover device and follow the on-screen prompts. Select the preferred language and regional settings when prompted.
Connect to the internet
Select Wi-Fi and enter the network password, or confirm the Ethernet connection. Allow the device time to verify connectivity.
Enter the Clover activation code
Use the activation information associated with the merchant account. If the code is unavailable or rejected, do not guess or use another merchant's code—contact Selective Pay so the device and merchant can be verified.
Create the owner PIN and complete prompts
Follow Clover's onboarding screens to establish the owner/administrator PIN and review requested business settings.
Allow apps and software to update
The device may download updates or install merchant applications. Keep the device powered and connected until the process completes.
Confirm printers, cash drawer and accessories
Load receipt paper, test the printer, open the cash drawer if one is connected and confirm any barcode scanner, customer display or kitchen hardware is responding.

Confirm the sale appears in the device and dashboard transaction history.
Test a void or refund workflow
Make sure authorized staff understand how to correct a transaction and how permissions are controlled.

Review batch/settlement timing, reporting and any location-specific closeout procedures with the merchant.
Troubleshooting
Common setup issues to check before calling support.
Device will not power on
Confirm the power supply is firmly connected, use the supplied charger/hub and allow battery-powered devices time to charge.
Cannot connect to Wi-Fi
Verify the password, move closer to the access point and confirm the business network allows the device to reach the internet.
Activation code rejected
Confirm the code belongs to the correct merchant and device. If it still fails, contact Selective Pay before resetting or reassigning the device.
Printer not working
Confirm paper is loaded correctly, the printer has power and the device recognizes the printer after activation.
Customer display not responding
Check cabling and restart the Station Duo only after confirming all components are connected correctly.
Device is updating
Keep it powered and connected. Initial software and application updates can take time depending on the device and network.
